Bigfoot, the Lochness Monster, and Suspending Our Beliefs
We see these stories on a weekly basis and we are mystified by them. A lot of times we see them on the cover of the National Inquirer (not in a very good way perhaps, but a way none the less). It's those creatures that are not exactly supernatural, but have enough sightings of them to make these creatures supernatural in nature. That's right we are talking about the Lochness Monster or the Bigfoot. These sightings are either faked or frequent. Which ever we will never really know. The truth or just a fairy tale?
Bigfoot is the big deal in my state. There have been many said sightings, some really corny money grabbing pictures, and some pictures that have never proven to be non-fictional. Even Theodore Roosevelt wrote in 1893 in his book "The Wilderness Hunter" that he believed he had seen a Bigfoot in Idaho. Is it just the shadowing of the trees that makes people think they saw it or is it just the trickery of the mind? Would it be too hard to grasp if it wasn't? On the same note we have the Lochness monster who is believed to be overseas in the Lochness Lake near Iverness, Scotland. Nessie has been believed to be seen in the same way that the Bigfoot has been seen. Many dedicated themselves to the belief of the monster whether or not they can see it. Again, pictures have been proven to be false, many sightings believed, and many pictures believed to be right.
What if we put aside our fears and denial? What if we actually put aside our beliefs and think about it for a second? This world is so wide and spacious. There are many areas that have been yet discovered, many different species that we have yet to find, and a lot of time to do it in. It's not so scary to assume that there is something in the bottom of the Lochness Lake or that there is something walking around the woods that is part human and part something else. It's different and that is why everyone is so curious and a lot of the world easily scared. The Lochness Lake is very deep and the woods very vast.
At least once a week I hear people discussing how they watched a program on Bigfoot, crop circles, aliens, or the Lochness monster and as they talk about it they become scared or just fearfully curious. Don't be afraid of that which we do not know about. That is what makes this world such a wonderful place. All the people in this world should know that we will discover new things every day. Whether these things are fairy tales or reality we should know that they are nothing to be afraid of. Don't necessarily embrace a Bigfoot if it is real and you see one, but don't be afraid either. The mysterious makes life new, so let's approach it that way.
